Inquiry date set for Broadview appeal
The date for the public inquiry into the Spring Ridge Farm proposed windfarm development has now been
set for the 15th of May 2012 with a decision expected by the governement appointed Inspector in mid
July. HSGWAG have already met with the SNC who are defending the appeal and will issue more
information in the next few day as to the next steps for both the action group and the local communities
impacted. It is likely we will work very closely with SNC during the appeal to present a unified front
although on advice HSGWAG still intend to be represented at the appeal hearing subject to securing
sufficient funding to do so.
Background
Planning Inquiries are primarily a forum for the local Council to defend its decision against the Developer.
Rather like a courtroom, each side is represented by a barrister and other professional witnesses/experts.
Community Groups can also represent themselves separately
The Planning Inspector will weigh up the arguments each presents before retiring to consider his/her
decision.
We must remember that both our local authority, a number of statutory consultees and HSGWAG's
barrister considered that Broadview's application was substantially contrary to both local and national
policy. We believe therefore that we are in the best possible shape for going into an appeal and we hope
you will continue to support the fight!
