Greatworth Public Meeting
A public meeting was held by HSGWAG for the residents of Greatworth
village on Tuesday the 27th of July. HSGWAG outlined the Broadview
proposal and the latest developments surrounding the scheme.
A Blimp was flown in a spot close to where the nearest turbine to
Greatworth will be sited to illustrate to local residents quite how
dominant the 125 metre turbines will be on the village and surrounding
area. It was highlighted during the presentation that the proposed
turbines are higher than the London eye and 2.5 times the height of
Nelsons column.
A number of questions were raised by concerned residents about how the
proposal was likely to affect them and the impact of the turbines on the
surrounding area.
One particular issue was that the wind turbines are now much closer to
Greatworth following a Broadview update on exactly where the turbines
are to be sited on the land adjacent to the Welsh lane. HSGWAG were
unable to give residents a clear reason for this as Broadview have yet to
publicly answer questions directed at them over this issue. The danger
of traffic being distracted by the turbines on the Welsh lane was also a
topic that raised some lively debate.
The local Parish council have now promised to take a more active stance
on the Broadview proposal starting with their next meeting in
September. Residents were also to lobby their local councillor and make
their feelings known.
A show of hands towards the end of the evening left everyone in
absolutely no doubt about the depth of feeling from Greatworth
residents with VIRTUALLY all 134 attendees voting PROACTIVELY
against the Broadview proposal. Not one person raised their hand in
support of the Broadview proposal."
The Chairman of HSGWAG closed by stressing support from Greatworth
residents over the coming months was very important in defeating the
Broadview proposal, whether it be in the form of objection letters,
donations or volunteering to deliver leaflets.
