HSGWAG. Helmdon, Stuchbury and Greatworth Wind Farm Action Group

History and culture
There are countless listed (and historical) buildings in Greatworth,
Helmdon, Sulgrave and Weston, the nearest settlements to the Spring
Ridge site. Development of such tall industrial turbines may not have a
severe impact at a greater distance, but these structures will dominate
the immediate area and have an unacceptably detrimental effect on the
historical character of our locality.
Greatworth and Sulgrave in particular have conservation areas within
each village. The turbines will be clearly visible from both areas. Anyone
living in or near a conservation area will know and understand how strict
development control can be. Local council plans for the area are clear
that if views in or out of the area are considered blighted, then
development should not be allowed.
It is the view of HSGWAG that this policy should be upheld vigorously,
for if the Spring Ridge site is allowed, it may force future planning
applications for new turbine sites in the area to be accepted because
one could not reasonably argue that the area will not be further blighted,
due to there being turbines in existence already.

The ancient village at Stuchbury will also be impacted. This is a
historical local site nestled directly in the proposed site area.
