Who are Broadview ?
Broadview Energy Limited are a developer of onshore wind farms in the UK. They have a website which gives more detail about their business http://www.broadviewenergy.com There is also a website which gives more details about the Spring farm ridge project which is the proposed development impacting Helmdon and surrounding villages. http://www.springfarmridge.co.uk

Some facts which Broadview do not make clear on their website
Broadview like many similar developers relies on heavy EU subsidies to run a profitable business.

Land deemed suitable by developers for wind farms is not arrived at entirely by scientific approach by companies such as Broadview. Broadview actively encourages land owners who have potential wind farm sites to contact them to assess viability based on lucrative financial returns for those landowners.

Once a site is deemed suitable Broadview will sign up landowners and place them under contract and confidentiality agreements with no community consultation until this process is complete.

Land owners, once signed up, are bound by contract and will find it very difficult (if not impossible) to extract themselves from the agreement should they have a change of heart"

Land owners stand to make about £25,000 per turbine per year or over £3m over the lifetime of the proposal. Broadview will make multi-million pounds profit over the lifetime of a wind farm such as the one proposed.

If Helmdon sees a (conservative) 10% drop in house prices as a result of the wind farm, this will equal a financial loss of over £10m for residents in total. Note based on 400 houses at average value of 270 thousand pounds.

Impact on volume of house sales is likely as significant as potential drop in value. It is common sense that if the overwhelming majority of residents object to a wind farm that incoming residents would feel the same way.
